Terra Formars

Review By: John Fragglepuss Evans

Genre: Action, Horror, Space, Sci-Fi Stew

First aired: Fall 2014, 13 episodes

Summary: 21st century scientists were tasked with making Mars inhabitable. They came up with a cost-effective plan of sending cockroaches and mold to the surface of the planet so that the mold would absorb the sunlight and the insect corpses would serve as a food source for the mold. Fast-forward to the year 2577, the first manned ship to land on Mars. The crew members are wiped out by giant mutated humanoid cockroaches with incredible physical strength. Fast-forward another few years and humanity is going to send elite warriors to exterminate the mutated super bugs and claim back Mars. The warriors all have a fusion of human mixed with some sort of bug, which makes them have the bug’s abilities.

Terra Formars is what you would get if you put every other Sci-Fi together in a blender and mixed it up. This anime has a mixture of everything that is Sci-Fi. There are part that remind me of Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Starship Troopers, Ender’s Game, Total Recall, Star Wars, etc. Terra Formars does not shy away from violence and graphic scenes. This show is not recommended for children.

You might enjoy this if: You like Sci-Fi. As I mentioned, this has a little bit of everything from the genre.

You might not like it if: Creepy, crawly bugs freak you out.

Note to the Viewer: There is a censored version that is censored in the worst/funniest way possible. The screen will completely blackout the gore, leaving a quarter of the screen showing, but the sounds are still going the entire time. If you want to avoid the blood and gore, watch the censored version. If you do not mind the violence, watch the uncensored version. Warning, the uncensored version is wild.
