Gugure! Kokkuri-san
Review By: John Fragglepuss Evans
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Supernatural, Animals that are human
First aired: Fall 2014, 12 episodes
Summary: The story begins with Kohina summoning Kokkuri-san, a low-ranking ghost in Japanese folklore, who turns out to be a handsome, young-looking, white-haired man. At first he intends to haunt her but he becomes worried about her eating habits. Now he haunts her in order to protect her. In the same style as other “animals that are human” anime, new animals get introduced throughout the season, and every character must live in the same house for some reason.
Gugure! Kokkuri-san is an enjoyable light-hearted comedy. There is a mixture of humorous and heartfelt moments that make you want to keep watching. It is an adorable show with a lot of “aww” factor. While there is not much depth to the storyline, the anime is entertaining enough to keep the viewer interested.
You might enjoy this if: You enjoy anime with animals that take the appearance of humans.
You might not like it if: Chibi animation bothers you.
Note to the Viewer: Make sure you watch to the very end of each episode. They each contain a weird surprise that is irresistible to watch.
