Baby Steps
Review By: John Fragglepuss Evans and Breanne Evans
Genre: Sports, Romance, School, Drama, Slice of Life, Fish out of Water, Tennis
First aired: Spring 2014, 25 episodes
Summary: Maruo Eiichirou, a first year honor student, decides he is unhappy with his lack of exercise. He finds a flyer for the Tennis Club and decides to check it out since it is only a one day a week practice. After all, he does not want too much exercise.
With no experience, a late start, and being in poor physical condition, Maruo starts his tennis journey the only way he know how, by using the same approach he uses in school. This includes a lot of detailed note taking, so much so that people start to worry about him. Do not worry about not being familiar with tennis, Baby Steps uses classic sports anime style and has the fans explain exactly what is happening.
You might enjoy this if: You want a story about hard work, dedication, and believing in yourself.
You might not like it if: You do not enjoy long, drawn-out “battle” scenes. Some of the matches can last for a couple episodes.
Note to the Viewer: Just wait until you hear him sing karaoke in the last episode…
