Another
Review By: John Fragglepuss Evans
Genre: Mystery, Psychological, Horror, School, Thriller, Creepy
First aired: Winter 2012, 12 episodes
Summary: When Kouichi Sakakibara transfers to his new school, he can sense something frightening about Class 3, a secret that nobody in the class will talk about. At the center is the mysterious girl Mei Misaki. Kouichi is drawn to her mysterious aura, but he begins to realize that no one else in the class is aware of her presence.
Another had me hooked from the beginning. The mystery starts early, and every time you think you have figured it out, it takes a turn. Graphic violence is not in short supply in Another. There are deaths that will leave you wondering if they did actually just occur. There are a few aspects of the anime that I did not agree with, but overall I feel that it was put together well and I did enjoy it a great deal. It is not often that an anime will give me the creeps, and Another gave me those creeps on several occasions.
You might enjoy this if: You are interested in horror films. Another is a great example of something that could be adapted into a feature film, it is just that good.
You might not like it if: Violence and mature themes make you squeamish. This is not an anime for a younger audience.
Note to the Viewer: Nobody is safe…
