Black Bullet
Review By: John Fragglepuss Evans
Genre: Action, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Near-extinction of humanity
First aired: Spring 2014, 13 episodes
Summary: In the near future humans have been nearly wiped out by viral parasites known as Gastrea. They have been cornered in Tokyo (of course) and live in terror of the Gastrea. Rentaro lives near Tokyo and is a member of the Civil Security, an organization that specializes in fighting against the Gastrea. His partner is Enju, a special young girl.
Black Bullet follows Rentaro and Enju through this post-apocalyptic world. There is a lot of mystery to this anime that unfolds as the episodes pass. However, it leaves you wanting more. At times it feels like there should be more buildup before the climatic finish occurs. It ends up being alright though because the show gets right back in the swing of things after every climax. Long story short, there is not a lot of down time in the anime. It moves at a fast pace throughout the season.
You might enjoy this if: You are a fan of Attack on Titan. Is has a similar feel to it in that humanity is nearly extinct and they must do whatever it takes to survive.
You might not like it if: You want a story arc that remains consistent throughout an entire season. The stories bounce around a lot.
Note to the Viewer: Just when you think you have figured out where the story is going and what genre this anime is, the anime will switch it up on you. Trust me, it does this several times throughout the show.
