The Familiar of Zero / Zero no Tsukaima
Review By: John Fragglepuss Evans
Genre: Action, Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Magic, Romance, School, Wizardry
First aired: Summer 2006, 13 episodes. There are a bunch of series for this anime though.
Summary: “Zero” Louise is a magician at the Tristein Academy. Her magic could use some work, being that she has had zero successes (hence the nickname Zero). Starting her second year, she must summon a familiar, a servant and partner to support her as a magician. Louise summons Hiraga Saito, a seemingly normal Japanese boy. Louise and Saito are both confused and resentful toward each other, but must learn to work together and accept each other.
The Familiar of Zero is like Harry Potter anime, with a school of wizardry and everything. However, there are a lot more differences than similarities between the two.
You might enjoy this if: You enjoy witchcraft and wizardry. If you are looking for a comical, magical world, this anime will likely appeal to you.
You might not like it if: You are annoyed by panty jokes and also joke repetition throughout a series.
Note to the Viewer: The Familiar of Zero definitely adds the anime aspect to the wizarding world.
