Summary: A lone wolf warrior named Guts fights as a mercenary. Guts unites with the charismatic and deadly Griffith, leader of the Band of the Hawk. Griffith is on a quest to raise his status through intelligent military victories. The armies of Midland have no idea what is coming for them as Griffith and Guts set off on a path that will bring the world to its knees.
Berserk was one of the first anime that I ever watched and it set the bar high for me. It was years ago that I first watched Berserk, but I have watched through the 25 episode series at least a dozen times. The story line is deep and involved, with a lot of characters that you feel strongly for, whether you love them or hate them. There is incredible progression throughout the series, leaving you always wanting more.
The recently released movies provide a quick recap of what the 25 episode series covered, leaving out some parts and adding other parts. These movies are decent, but I would recommend watching the original series for the whole experience.
You might enjoy this if: You do not mind watching a dark series. There are lighthearted parts, but the series in general is heavy with some graphic parts.
You might not like it if: You are turned off by violence. Berserk is full of blood and “Guts”…(sorry, I had to).
Note to the Viewer: Finishing the anime series will make you want to start reading the manga. Also, after you have finished the series, watch episode one again. Trust me, it will make a lot more sense.
